Let Firefox do all the work.

29.Jun.2009

The Firefox project began as an experimental branch of the Mozilla project by Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross. They believed the commercial requirements of Netscape’s sponsorship and developer-driven feature creep compromised the utility of the Mozilla browser. To combat what they saw as the Mozilla Suite’s software bloat, they created a stand-alone browser, with which they intended to replace the Mozilla Suite. On April 3, 2003, the Mozilla Organization announced that they planned to change their focus from the Mozilla Suite to Firefox and Thunderbird.

While there are many good applications/ languages and hacks yet to be learned, the time it takes to get to know most of them and finding out which ones work for you , that is not the fastest way to get things started. In order to help you get started hacking pretty straigh away make yourself comfortable and start reading the following instructions.

Where does this get me?

The instructions below will give you a better understanding about the tools (starting with the Firefox webbrowser) and ‘computer’ languages involved with designing webpages, sites, tools and widget. Not to forget the fact that there many ways to get things done.

The Firefox webbrowser has many good plugins for designing webpages. Follow the link to Mozilla’s site about the available plugins and add-ons for designing and coding. Choose, Install and try them out, find out whats useful for you to use. Experiment!

My favorite TOP 3 Firefox Plugins/Add-ons:

  • Firebug - A wealth of development tools at your fingertips while you browse.
  • Web Developer - Adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools.
  • SEOpen - Provides some basic tools to help with search engine optimization. Including google backlinks, yahoo backlinks, PageRank check, http header viewer, and more.

After installion you need to find out when and how to use your new toolkit. Keep in mind that there are different ways to start making, hacking or updating a webpage. The following links will help you understand more about how things works and how to make a plan for a site.

Choose your basics for starting a project.
