The idea for helping/humanitarian NGO’s was the awareness from Paolo Verdolin. The idea reflex perhaps the most interesting compilation of thoughts from the brainstorm sessions @ the labs of Comfortnetworks.

How do we create a save internet enviroment for children?

Interesting links for kids

Lets start with some stuff to keep the kids busy while you are hacking your way through all the information. I tried to select only pages without ads, but those are hard to find…

Wait a second!

Before we get into spreading more links here, let us take into consideration the principle of education. In its technical sense education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.

Current education is rooted in various philosophies that are commonly fundamentally different from those of traditional compulsory education. While some have strong political, scholarly, or philosophical orientations, others are more informal associations of teachers and students dissatisfied with certain aspects of traditional education. These alternatives, which include charter schools, alternative schools, independent schools, virtual schools and home-based learning vary widely in the sense of focus.

In most of the previous stated forms of education lack of a commercial barrier that frees the way  for the expression of the creative minds. On the contrary many website that offer free online education are frequently designed for the aid of commercial advertisement campaigns.

Let say that for the collection of links used on this page, we tried to filter out as much of the adversiment websites as possible. If you do run into advertisement while following our links, it probably minimal.

Advertisement doesn’t make a webpage for kids evil or bad.

Never forget the added value a educational website could have for your children, even if there is some advertisement campaign running on that website. To give you an example of such you try out the Plantsearcher.com They provide a list of very interesting links for educating children of various ages. Even so they show advertisement, most of the links on that website are extremely usefull for our kids and the advertisement is not manipulated with evil words.

Teaching the exceptional way.

Educational programs can be very expensive, so kids themselves find ways to use the internet to find interesting websites. The problem there is that of validity. How genuine is the information that is provided? The internet has no such certification program, as of course they must exist in many sizes and shaped, that could not be put in to service of the whole internet mass. Freedom of mind and philosophy makes the whole certification irrelevant.
