Letter from a volunteer
On the 27th of October 2010 I first arrived in Pabekh. I met Nina, Poorna and their daughter Dina. These people and the entire village of Pabekh treated me with great respect. My time in Pabekh will never be forgotten.
For those of you who haven’t traveled before and don’t know how you would cope, I can only say I just wanted to challenge myself, and escape the monotony of everyday life at home. I can promise you, no two days will ever be the same, nor will there be a dull moment. If you’re not working you’re relaxing, eating vegan food with the villagers, or playing with the kids.
I must say though, that like all my traveling experiences, its not with out its frustrating moments. Pabekh is a real Indian village with real Indian problems, water pollution, rubbish and a general lack of adequate infrastructure. But it is real India, with real Indian hospitality which is like nothing I have experienced before.
This has been a colorful and loving moment in my life, and I strongly recommend this experience to anyone who is willing to make the effort.
